Online learning is not just limited to higher education. In fact there are online schools that now offer K-12 grades completely online. There are some free schools, but most range from about $100 dollars to around $200 dollars. This includes supplies, and direct access to teacher during normal school day hours. This is an optimal situation for students that either have a difficult time in mainstream classrooms, are with a family that has a tendency to move a lot, or prefers a home schooling environment that would allow him or her to have a more hands on experience through outside work. This new stage in education is not going to make the current educational system obsolete, but it does offer that many more options so that learners are able to take advantage of all the options that are available.

For some students, the price of this monthly cost could be offset by the district, especially of the district believes it to be in the child best interest to learn in this fashion, or if the child has has a prescribed IEP, Individual Education Plan, that suggests this type of learning environment. For many students that are already part of a care system through the district, and they are at home with their children, this could be a natural way for them to learn. Case in point, children with learning disabilities, Autism, or physical disabilities that prevent them from having a fluid experience in a classroom. All of these cases of students tend to be home bound, and private tutors, paid by the school district come to the home to work with the students. Online education would eliminate much of that one on one exposure, and instead allow students to maintain their education via the online schooling system, then when ready tutors can come and help instruct on life skills and social behaviors. The combination of the two resources have the potential of helping students succeed in way never thought possible.
